20 March, KATHMANDU : Following the success of the Saga and the X70 (launched in 2020 and 2021, respectively), Jagdamba Motors Pvt. Ltd, the authorized distributor of Proton vehicles in Nepal, has unveiled its new SUV model–the X50.

The Proton X50 is Proton’s mid-level SUV that will sit below the X70. The SUV is offered in three variants: the Standard, the Premium, and the flagship–at a starting price of Rs 71.99 lakh. Bookings have been made open for the new SUV ahead of its official launch on March 23.

Design

The X50 gets a dual-tone exterior and comes with an aggressive front fascia, featuring LED projector headlamps (with integrated DRLs), automatic headlamps, and fog lamps. The rear looks plain with LED tail lights. Furthermore, the black cladding and quad exhaust tailpipes adds a sporty look to the rear-end of the vehicle.

On the inside, the SUV comes with a dual-tone interior, featuring leatherette-upholstered seats, a six-way adjustable driver seat, and electric power steering. On the dashboard sits a full-colour LCD cluster and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system–compatible with both Apple Carplay and Android Auto–which can be further upgraded to 10.25 inches.

Engine

The Proton X50 is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged petrol-engine that delivers fuel using either multi-point injection or direct injection–depending on the variant. And the TGDI (the flagship variant), with the direct injection system, generates 177 hp of power and 255 Nm.
